UNITHAI Shipyard & Engineering - Thailand

Unithai Shipyard exists to provide quality ship repair, conversion and new building services to ship owners worldwide. Unithai works closely and in partnership with owners to determine their needs and to satisfy their requirements on time and at competitive costs. Since the first ship was drydocked for repair in September 1993, the size and complexity of repair contracts undertaken have grown to the extent that Unithai can provide a complete range of ship repair services for commercial, and military vessels up to suezmax and minicape, including:

 

  • Grit blasting, coating of hulls, cargo holds,
  • and cargo tanks
  • Major steel repairs and renewals
  • Mechanical overhauls and Reconditioning Services
  • Tailshaft, propeller and rudder repairs
  • Engine room, deck, hold and tank pipework
  • Cargo gear repairs, testing, and lifeboat services

In addition, local infrastructure provides facilities for hard chroming, galvanizing, fibreglass works, remetalling, in-situ machining, navigation aids, boiler works, metalok repairs, turbocharger balancing, foundry, heat treatment, carpentry, air conditioning work, rubber lining and insulation works.

 

Unithai also maintains joint ventures to provide expertise in strategic areas such as internal tank blasting and coating, corrosion control, steel fabrication, piping and insulation.

Yiu Lian (Hong Kong) Dockyards - Hong Kong

Yiu Lian Dockyards Limited is one of the major business units of the China Merchants Industry Holdings Co., Ltd. The Company is one of the busiest ship repairers in the Far East and one of the biggest in Hong Kong.

 

The Company owns two shipyards: one at Tsing Yi and another at Yam O in Hong Kong and two subsidiaries at Shekou and Zhangzhou in mainland China. It operates totally five floating docks with capacities from 16,000dwt to 180,000dwt and over 1,560 meters of berths. Based on the foundation of Yiu Lian Dockyards (Shekou) Ltd, the new shipyard on Mazhou Island with investment amount of nearly RMB$2.5 billion will commence operation by the end of 2007. And this new shipyard will be a world-class ship and offshore engineering structure repair yard.

 

In addition to focusing on ship repair service, the Company also extends into special services such as offshore oil rig repair, special ship repair, land-based steelwork engineering, habour tugboat services and offshore engineering project.Since its establishment, the Company has committed to provide excellent quality workmanship and technical expertise to every customer. With its experience and comprehensive facilities, the Company undertakes a wide range of repair work from docking repair, annual and special surveys, voyage repair, conversion, damage and emergency repair to all kinds of vessels including the repair of offshore oil rigs, special engineering vessels and land-based structures.

ASL Batam Shipyard - Indonesia

ASL Shipyard owns and operates three yards in Singapore, Batam, Indonesia and Guangdong, China. ASL is a subsidiary of ASL Marine Holdings, a vertically-integrated marine services group principally involved in shipbuilding, ship repairs, ship chartering and other marine services, catering to customers mainly from Asia Pacific, South Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
ASL’s drydocking facilities in Batam include a graving dry dock for vessels up to 150,000dwt and a floating dock for vessels up to 20,000dwt for retrofits, conversions, life-extensions and repairs of all types of vessels, including:

 

  • Tankers, container vessels, bulk carriers, etc.
  • Offshore work vessels, dredging vessels, pipe laying vessels, semi-submersibles, etc.
  • FSOs and FPSOs

L&T Shipbuilding Limited - India

L&T’s Shipbuilding facility has been created at Hazira Works to cater to the needs of growing global demand for construction of specialized oceangoing vessels.
The Shipbuilding facility recently set up for construction of high tech vessels and the facilities at the shipyard include prefabrication facilities such as shot blasting and priming , CNC cutting machine, semi panel line fabrication, unit assembly bay, block assembly and a slipway to launch the vessels along with a jetty for outfitting jobs for the ships under construction.

 

 

The shipyard is geared up to take up construction of niche vessels such as specialized Heavy lift Cargo Vessels, CNG carriers, Chemical tankers, defense & para military vessels and other role specific vessels.

 

 

Construction of specialized mid size vessels is being undertaken and capacity is being augmented by additional infrastructure such as ship lift system and additional outfitting workshops to extend the activities to ship repairs.
